Event News – Aug-Sep 2017
During Women’s month we as AKE and Rosys ran a competition for NGO’s / Charity organisations where we sponsored décor and event consulting services for their event during the month of August. The Yes We Can Sport & Jazz Foundation won the competition whereby they ran an event called Wonder Women Soireé on 27 August and also launched a self defence program for women and girls. It was a wonderful event and a great fun afternoon was had by all who attended.
KILLARNEY MOTOR SPORT
Once again we enjoyed the Engen Motorsport at Killarney on 9 September.
Wedding 30 September
One of the biggest highlights was my son Jacques and Michelle’s wedding that was held at Black Marlin Restaurant in Simonstown and we arranged and did all the décor. Being at the sea we had a sea / ocean theme that turned out to be spectacular. It included centrepieces with real fish and the guests were suitably impressed!

We provided services for the Budget Vote Speech at Parliament for the national department of Public Works and Transport and its partners
31 May – EPIC MSL Group
The first Oral B launch took place at The Venue on JHB – it was a great event and met wonderful people
1 Jun – EPIC MSL Group
The 2nd Oral B launch took place at 15 on Orange in Cape Town – it was an amazing working on the JHB & CT events – it was awesome
30 Jun – 2 July
The Engen Knockout took place at Vasco da Gama Academy in Parow. It was a wonderful weekend of soccer

25 March – Motorsport at Killarney
We provided services in the form of marquees, catering, bar services etc. to Openfield Marketing/Engen at this exciting Motorsport Challenge. All the guests, staff and crew enjoyed the day.
7 April – Margaret Hirsch Awards
We were thrilled to be involved in this prestigious event where business women were acknowledged and awarded for their hard work and awesome businesses. AKE sponsored two lucky draw prizes and attended the event – which was Hollywood Theme and all the women looked liked super stars.
15-17 Apr – The Bayhill Premier Cup
We provided some services over the Easter weekend at Erica Park in Belhar for the U19 Tournament.

We were very busy starting out the year preparing for upcoming events in February
10 February – Presidential Golf Challenge
We provided services to SITA SOC Ltd where they had brand activation at Hole 14. This was a rather busy and enjoyable day for us as well as all the other golfers.
We provided a Bedouin marquee, bar services, photography and branded items.
20 & 21 Feb – Sustainable Settlements Innovation Summit (SSIS) 2017
The Department of Environmental Affairs & Development Planning held a 2 day summit at Goudini Spa where very important matters were discussed, debated and presented relating to the water shortages and drought in the Western Cape. The summit was a success and a real eye opener.
We also managed to enjoy the baths in our off time and enjoyed it so much it was hard to leave.
28 Feb – Long Service Awards
The Department of Cultural Affairs & Sport held their Long Service Awards at Alleé Bleue Wine Estate in Franschoek. Here staff celebrated 10, 20, 30 and 40 years in service. This was a truly wonderful evening in a magical venue setting. The décor was stylish and elegant and we were entertained by The Pedestrians who played such fantastic music.
We now look forward to some new events and projects in upcoming months.
Event News – Nov/Dec 2016
Event Planning & Risk Management Course
We are excited about a new addition to the business and that is we have partnered with Afroteq Academy in providing a 2 day accredited course focusing on all the aspects of event planning and risk management. We had 2 very successful courses in Cape Town on 8 & 9 Nov and 22 & 23 Nov in Johannesburg.
On 19 November we provided some services for a 15 year anniversary and family day yearend celebration. These included erecting marquees, bringing in wooden tables and benches as well as kiddies activities, and a photo booth.
On 8 December we were of service to The Department of Community Safety for the launch of their new offices of the WC Police Ombudsmen.
On 10 December we provided décor for a Mafia themed 50th birthday. This turned out to be a fantastic and fun event with the guests in awe of how the Pinelands Bowling Club was transformed.

We kicked off October by providing Bedouin tents at the University of Pretoria for the Engen Soccer Champs of Champs
Emerging Business Support Programme
From 26-29 September the Department of Economic Development awarded us a contract to provide catering services for 14 of their events which will roll out across the Cape Metropole into October. This is an exciting programme with Absa Bank as a partner which assists small businesses and also those who are thinking of starting a business to go through a 2 day course to learn just how to do that. During October the events were held at Absa Bank in Claremont and at the Municipal offices in Atlantis.

Western Cape Education Department Heritage Competition
September started off with AKE providing services for The Western Cape Education Department for the Schools Heritage Competition. The event took place on 10 Sep at the Gold Fields Environmental Education Centre at Kirstenbosch. It was so inspiring to see how these students had to do presentations in front of a panel of adjudicators and an audience.

Department of Transport – Budget Vote Speech
On 10 May we had to provide some services for the national Department of Transport. They were exhibiting services of all their entities namely The Road Accident Fund, Road Traffic Management Corporation, Prasa, Railway Safety Regulator, South African Civil Aviation Authority, Samsa, Road Traffic Infringement Agency, etc
Rachel’s Angels Gala Awards Ceremony
On 14 May this event took place in the Stellenbosch Town hall for 400 guests.
This mentor/mentee program involving mentors from The University of Stellenbosch and Grade 11 & 12 learners. It has been running since 2007 and has now come to an end in its current format. It was a glitzy evening with the theme being Denim & Diamonds – “It’s your time to shine”. The guests had a wonderful evening. Our MC’s for the night was Nico Panagio & Lynelle Kenned.
False Bay College Graduation
On 31 May we assisted False Bay College with their annual graduation. The event was held at Muizenberg Civic and was a great success!
Engen Knockout was held on 15-17 July. It was a great weekend of great soccer

Smart Procurement Expo – 1 & 2 March
We took part in the Smart Procurement Expo on 1 & 2 March 2016. This was a great experience as we met suppliers as well as business people from corporate and government departments.
We attended talks and presentations from wonderful speakers providing tips and insights that we can implement in our businesses.
Event News – January / February 2016
Our offices re-opened on 11 January and we got stuck into the last 2 weeks of January with doing all the final arrangements and logistics for the Sustainable Settlement Innovation Summit (SSIS) for the WC Department of Environmental & Development Planning. (DEADP)
These types of conferences are our passion so it was great to be a part of this summit and to be involved with all the activities.
1 & 2 February had arrived and the summit was in full swing at Hotel Verde – the greenest hotel in Africa. This is the most beautiful hotel with the friendliest of staff. The conference was opened by MEC Anton Bredell and the 2 days saw some very interesting topics and speakers with 2 speakers from the UK. Delegates who attended were from the departments of WC DEADP & Human Settlements, The City of Cape Town, various municipalities and private companies.
